- Halong Bay has beautiful scenery, and shouldn't be missed in my opinion. At least take a day cruise if you don't want to spend a lot of time there.
- Hue is also nice and more relaxed than the big cities (Hanoi and Saigon) in Vietnam. There is a lot of history, and the nearby villages are great to explore. We took a motorbike tour through the area, and it ended up being one of my most fun/memorable days ever.
- Hoi An is great for shopping (particularly getting tailor-made clothing) and hip places to hang out. This seemed to be one of the more touristy parts of Vietnam, but still fun.
- Hanoi and Saigon are both great to visit; they are both rich with history and have interesting things to see. They aren't relaxing places to visit, but far from boring too.

Halong Bay (or Bay of the Descending Dragon) is one of the most scenic spots in northern Vietnam, with its calm waters and many limestone mountains dotting the seascape.
Sapa is a scenic spot in northwestern Vietnam, 350km from Hanoi by road and 38km from Lao Cai Town. That area of Lao Cai Province is well-populated. It is 1,600 meters above sea level and stands in a valley with cool weather. Not far from the west of Sapa is the 3,143-meter-high Fansipan Mountain, called the “roof of Indochina." This mountain is attractive to tourists with a passion for adventure, discoveries and conquests. In the neighborhood of Sapa, there are many historical relics and beauty spots. The Sapa ancient rock expanse is a scattering of rocks in terraced fields. These rocks are inscribed with drawings, such as pictures and floral designs.
