Vietnam's MAJOR airports include:
- Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Saigon
- Da Nang - ARGUABLY a major airport
Noi Bai was one of the easiest airports that I have ever been through. It's located a little ways outside of Hanoi, and has light traffic going to it. Noi Bai has just been rennovated, and is now very clean and modern. The international flights use raised terminal concourses to board and exit. Vietnam Airlines for domestic flights often loads from the tarmac, which is a royal pain in the butt when it rains.
Tan Son Nhat is a mess because it's in the proicess of being rennovated. It is in the middle of the busiest parts of Saigon, which makes it a pain in the butt to get to. It could take an hour to get there even if you're only a few miles away. Only passengers are allowed inside the airport, so you need to say your hello's and good bye's outside.
The international terminal is very nice, but the domestic flights suck because they are usually loaded from the tarmac. That is a pain in the butt when it rains just like in Hanoi.
I had not been to Da Nang because there aren't any direct flights to there from America. It can be assumed that it is much smaller than either Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat.
The other airports are at best puddle jumper destinations for prop or small charter aircraft. I drove by Hai Phoung airport, and wouldn't realize it was an airport without a friend pointing it out to me.
